Many offices are going to business casual these days, leaving female employees to wonder what exactly does business casual constitute? In the absence of written guidelines for business casual womens clothing, always stay of the dressier side of casual. This conveys a sense of professionalism which is noticed by upper management.

Business casual attire more formal than weekend attire or sporty casual attire. T-shirts of any kind are off limits for the office, the are weekend clothing. Athletic clothing is also off limits. Today’s woman can never afford to be too casual in the workplace regardless of the type of business she works at. Despite the fact that its the 21st century, womens clothing styles still matter in the workplace more than they do for men.

The biggest mistake a woman can make when selecting business casual clothing is looking too sexy. This doesn’t just mean plunging necklines although they are a definite no-no, a pair of skinny jeans with anything but the flat shoes is too sexy for business casual. A good rule of thumb is that if you would wear the outfit on a date, even a lunch date, it’s not appropriate. Tailored slacks and a sweater set or non-faded dark jeans with a business-like jacket are good examples of business casual womens clothing. And you thought normal office attire was difficult!
